Coordinators' Corner: Scheduling a League
There are many resources available on the internet for scheduling a league or a tournament. Depending on the particulars, this can be an easy, or a very difficult task.
A) Scheduling a round-robin tournament with all games at the same field: This is easy. Click here for templates for 4-team to 9-team round robin schedules.
B) Scheduling a multi-team league's season, with teams having a home field, or worse, 2 teams having the same home fields, or worst: an odd number of teams in your league. This is tough, when you are trying to have all teams with the same number of home games. Many software packages exist on the internet, but most cost money. An excellent free one can be found at http://www.splendidcity.net/ This can crunch through the toughest schedule and spits out a schedule, and a report on how balanced the schedule is. TIP - the printing function is poor - print screen shots.
