The last Hit-Run-Throw day is scheduled was June 7, 2008.  Download HRT 2008 Registration form

Event description: This is an individual competition. Players will each hit a ball from a tee, run abound all bases, and throw a ball.  Points are awarded for distance, straightness, and time. The top 3 finishers in each category will receive an award (trophy or medal).  When possible, all participants shall receive a "goodie bag", if event sponsorship supports this.  All kids have fun, and the event is competitive, though structured around participation and having fun.  All kids truly have fun at this event, and the more the merrier. Hope to see you there.

Volunteering: Volunteers are needed for this event. Please contact Vice-President Mark Colligan if you would like to volunteer. Some volunteer positions available at this event:  Time keeper, score recorder, concession stand, registration desk, prize hand-out, station coordinator.

Official rules Below:

HITTING

Each player is allowed three hits off of a batting tee. The player is allowed to adjust the height of the batting tee before each attempt. Players must use a "normal batting stance" (i.e. no walking or running start). If the player hits the tee, rather than the ball, and in so doing knocks the ball off, the attempt is counted. A swing and a miss is also counted as an attempt. A ball hit outside the designated area is a foul ball and counts as one attempt as well. The player's score is calculated by measuring the distance from the batting tee to where the ball first lands, and is recorded to the nearest foot (e.g. a hit measured at 110'5" counts as 110', whereas a hit measured at 110'6" counts as 111’). The longest two hits are recorded on the score sheet with the best score circled and the corresponding points awarded (e.g. 110' = 110 points).

 RUNNING

Each participant is allowed two attempts at running the bases. Each attempt is timed as the contestant runs the complete 260' around the bases. Entrants begin their run facing 1st base with the forward foot at the back edge of home plate. The time is stopped when the player touches home plate. A missed base or a slide into home plate results in a 10 point penalty. The lower of the two times, including penalty (if any) is used in the total point accumulation.  Points are awarded based on the scoring legend listed on all official 2008 HRTC Official Results Sheet.

 THROWING

Scoring is based on accuracy as well as distance. Each participant is allowed two throws. The thrown distance is measured to the point at which the ball first hits the ground. The accuracy component is calculated by subtracting the perpendicular distance between the landing point and the target line, from the previously measured distance component. Participants are allowed a running throw but must not step on or over the designated throwing line in order for the throw to be considered valid. Any infraction of this rule results in a disqualified performance and is considered an expended attempt. Both scores are recorded on the score sheet with the best score circled and the corresponding points awarded (e.g. if the participant throws the ball 140' but the ball lands 20' off the centre line, the final score for that throw is 140'-20'= 120 points)

 MISC.

-       There are 7 categories of competition including Blastball, T-Ball, Tadpole, Mosquito Girls, Mosquito Boys, Peewee Girls, Peewee Boys.

-       Winners are determined by totalling the individual's best score in each of the three skill categories including:

  1. Farthest and most accurate throw
  2. Fastest run
  3. Longest hit

-       In the event of a total points tie, the total of the three second best scores from each of the tied participants will be used to determine the winner.

-       Participants are required to "warm-up" prior to competing.

-       Participants are required to wear a helmet while participating at the hitting station.

-       Participants must use a "normal batting stance" during the hitting station (i.e. no running or walking start).

-       All participants are to be given access to the same set of bats. If a participant brings his or her own bat, it can be used only on the condition that all participants are given access.

-       Participants are allowed to adjust the batting tee to their desired height.

-       In the event of a protest, participants must have proof of age available.

-       One site and time is to be used for all competitions. Alternative sites and times are not permitted for participants who cannot attend the competition. Alternative sites can be used for an entire age/gender category.
