Umpire Clinics

PCMBA and CMBA are pleased to announce the 2010 edition of umpire training on March 20th and March 21th.

Saturday, March 20th Terry Fox School from 9:00am to 3:00pm will be level 1 and level 2 training. This will be a combination of in class review as well as various demonstrations in the gym. We have opted to focus on the practical aspects of umpiring and the events that occur most often in the game to fully prepare our umpires for what they will see on the field. It will be a fun and high energy day.  To register, please email your name to umpireinchief@pocominorbaseball.com .

Sunday, March 21th Thompson Field from 11:00 to 1:00. A “friendly” game will be organized with Mosquito aged players to give umpires a chance to make calls in the field and experience a game like setting. In a supportive atmosphere new umpires will be placed into the game to gain experience at making calls and other situations. This day is meant for Level 1 umpires and others that would like to attend.

Umpire Levels

A level 1 umpire is generally 11 years of age or older and makes calls in Mosquito and lower age divisions.

A level 2 umpire is generally 15 years of age or older and makes calls in Bantam and PeeWee games.

Player Clinics
Spring Baseball Clinc (Mosquito / PeeWee Players) March 29th to March 31st
The BullPen school will be holding a spring break camp in coordination with Poco Minor Baseball and Coquitlam-Moody Baseball Associations. The camp will run from March 29th to March 31st at Thompson Park. The sessions start at 9:00am and run to noon each day. The cost of the three day camp will be 110.00 payable to the BullPen. This camp represents a excellent opportunity to continue to get ready for the season. The number of attendees will be limited to maximize the amount of instruction given to the participants.

Format
Camp attendees will be split into two group and have designated coaches/instructors for each. Topics covered include hitting (making more consistent contact and power), pitching (better control and how to increase velocity), fielding (the importance of mechanics and how to play each position). Situational game play will also be covered including rundowns, cut-offs, relays and how to execute these successfully. The day will end with a game between the two groups.

Registration
To register, please contact Fred Sabatine directly at 604-644-6566 or via email at
